“The success of yoga does not lie in the ability to perform postures, but in how it positively changes the way we live our lives and our relationships.”

Daily yoga practice at Kailasam
At Kailasam we aim to make the yoga classes suitable for everybody – men and women, beginners and the more experienced. Most of our holidays include a mixture of asana practice (physical postures), prananyama (breathing), meditation, chanting and relaxation. The balance will depend on the teacher, but generally we will enjoy a more energetic practice at 7:30 or 8:00am with a relaxing and meditative session around 5pm each day.
There are two free days in the middle of each holiday/retreat and usually two afternoons off.
Benefits of yoga
Yoga is a holistic discipline, which aims to give us perfect health by addressing the physical, mental-emotional and spiritual aspects of our Being. Its origins are in India, thousands of years ago, with a philosophy derived from ancient texts and the teachings of sages such as Patanjali.
It is a practical aid that can be adapted for all ages, body shapes and sizes, and can used by people of any religion, as well as by those without religious beliefs. All you need is an open mind and a sincere interest in delving deeper.
Most people start yoga because of a desire to be more flexible, stronger, to stay young, to improve their posture or to help a health problem. But yoga makes you feel good on more than just a physical level.
As we practice, we begin to change and may notice that we take the ups and downs of life more and more in our stride; maybe the yoga class is the only time you really relax and your mind stops the incessant stream of thinking, and maybe you notice your life and relationships improving on all levels…
Enjoying yoga at Kailasam will have a positive and beneficial effect that will spill over into all parts of your life.
“Health is wealth. Peace
of mind is happiness.
Yoga shows the way.”
– Swami Sivananda
