“You don’t have to be flexible to do yoga, you just have to be willing to shake the dust off and see what happens.” David Good
Professionally-run Yoga Holidays in India
We run residential yoga holidays from November to March each year. Holidays are between 10 days and 2 weeks long. Our yoga holidays will improve your strength, flexibility, relax your body and calm your mind.
We have small friendly groups – usually between 10 and 14 people. Owner, Diana Shipp teaches some of the holidays, assisted by guest teachers who offer different yoga styles. All rooms in our friendly retreat centre are en-suite and we have a large, fully-equipped yoga studio overlooking the garden.
We usually offer two yoga classes each day, one before breakfast and one in the early evening before dinner. We provide a generous Western-style breakfast each day, and other meals are taken in the friendly local cafes and restaurants nearby.
A relaxing reatreat for all
Our holidays are ideal for single travellers, couples or friends and are suitable for all levels of yoga experience. This can be a time for reflection, a way to deepen your practice, meet like-minded people and discover a new part of the world.
We know that lives can be busy, so we aim to give you a break from the day-to-day routine, as well as time to relax, reflect and enjoy a new culture in Kovalam village and beyond. We will look after you from the time you arrive at Trivandrum International Airport until it’s time to catch your flight home.
An Authentic Experience of India
You’ll find plenty of time to enjoy the locality between yoga classes, and with two free days in the middle of each holiday, you can explore further afield – or simple stay put and relax.
Short Trips in the locality
We organise taxis and rickshaws to show you temples, villages, beaches, festivals, elephants, birds, markets, and to experience the Kerala way of life. The state capital city, Trivandrum, just 30 minutes away, is also a favourite for shopping and sight-seeing.
We rely on our principle drivers, Prem and Hari who between them manage and organise all our transport needs.
For the two yoga-free days there are a choice of trips, including an overnight boat journey through the tranquil Kerala Backwaters. See village life taking place from the comfort of your houseboat as you glide along rivers and through lakes and lagoons, alive with birds and wildlife.
Trips further afield
Other popular destinations include the Southern Tip of India, Kanniya Kumari; a visit to the Wooden Palace of Padmanabhapuram; an Elephant Rehabilitation Centre, and the tea plantations at Ponmudi Hills.
